In 2009, scientists announced a skin disorder they called "Playstation Palmar Hidradenitis " caused by too much video game playing. The tight and continuous grasping of the hand-grips together with repeated pushing of the buttons produce minor but continuous trauma to the palmar surfaces. Forceful hand muscle contractures together with palmar sweating usually occur if the player becomes too engrossed and anxious during the console gaming.
