Charles Osborne is known for having the longest case of hiccups on record, according to the Guinness World Records. Osborne's hiccups began in 1922 and continued uninterrupted until 1990, a total of 68 years. During this time, Osborne's hiccups occurred approximately 40 times per minute, and he was unable to eat or drink normally as a result. Despite numerous attempts to cure his hiccups, including various medications and home remedies, Osborne's hiccups persisted for nearly seven decades. He eventually passed away in 1991 at the age of 97.
