In Japan, there is a cafe' that uses robots to serve people that are operated by paralyzed people. The robot controllers earn around 1,000 yen per hour, enabling them to still make an income despite being paralyzed. Tokyo-based DAWN, or Diverse Avatar Working Network, is a cafe staffed by robots operated remotely by people with severe physical disabilities like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
